P.L. 94-171 Redistricting Data from the year 2000 Census: The View from the States
Public Law 94-171 requires the Census Bureau to provide the redistricting data needed by the fifty states. Within one year of Census Day, the Bureau must send each state the data it will need to redraw districts for the state legislature. The data provided to the states arrive in the form of statistical tables including population counts for all relevant geographic areas.
