The Chinese placement exam includes a written exam and an oral interview, both conducted remotely. Students are expected to complete the online test before taking an oral interview. The oral interviews are scheduled during New Student Week, on September 9 (Wednesday), between 3-4:30 pm.

Students need to register to take the Chinese placement test at (https://tinyurl.com/y4lqh3ho). Once you have submitted the registration form, you will see a link that leads you to take the online test. After submitting the online test, you will receive an email that informs you about the time to take the oral interview via Zoom, as well as the Zoom meeting link, scheduled on September 9 (Wednesday), between 3-4:30 pm.

EXCEPTION: If you grew up in a Mandarin-speaking family in China or Taiwan, and went to a Chinese-speaking school at least for elementary school, please do not go to the Chinese Placement Test. Instead, after the second week of classes, contact Professor Shaohua Guo to arrange an interview to determine exemption from the language requirement.

If you have questions, email Professor Shaohua Guo at sguo@carleton.edu or call 1-507-222-5957..
