Sam is a Computer Science major and Cognitive Science concentrator. His main interests lie in machine learning, particularly comparing approaches to artificial intelligence to human cognition. In addition to his research work at Carleton, he also participated in a medical informatics research program at DePaul University in the summer of 2013. His team implemented machine learning algorithms to identify the most predictive symptoms of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and subsequently published their research in the International Journal of Machine Learning and Computing. Sam is also an avid outdoorsman and Artistic Director of No Fidelity, a campus music publication.
