Language Learner’s Playbook (Fall 2024)
The Language Learners Playbook panel event was designed to help new language learners thrive. It featured seven panelists, all upper-level language students, who shared valuable tips and personal insights on how to succeed in language courses. During the event, the panelists discussed strategies for studying, managing coursework, and taking advantage of language-learning resources on campus. The audience, primarily composed of first-year and new language students, had the opportunity to ask questions and interact with the panelists. Food was provided and students left with practical advice and motivation to continue their language studies.

Poetry Without Borders (Spring 2024)
The Spring 2024 “Poetry Without Borders” was organized and sponsored by the Humanities Center, the Language Center, the Department of German and Russian, the Spanish Department, the Department of French and Francophone Studies, and the Center for Global and Regional Studies at Carleton.
This event celebrated and explored the rich diversity of languages through poetry. We had an impressive lineup: 25 different poems performed by 41 talented individuals (yes 41!), representing 16 diverse languages from languages like Spanish and Russian to Guarani, Hungarian, and Malayalam. This included not one, but two poems that were performed by their authors, as well as 18 first-year student performers. This variety not only showcases the breadth of our community’s linguistic skills but also its deep cultural connections. Thanks to all of our wonderful performers who made this event a massive success.
