1. Make sure students in your course are ok with being recorded if you record Zoom sessions. Out of courtesy, check with your students if they are comfortable being recorded – Carleton’s general guideline that students can be filmed at any time did not have COVID-19 in mind.
  2. Especially if you are using breakout sessions, but in general, make sure your learning materials are in your Moodle course to make it easier for students to see them when you shift away from your presentation or shared screen.
  3. If you want to use your iPad with Explain Everything as your whiteboard or presentation tool, consider adding your iPad to the Zoom meeting, and then share its screen.  On a Mac, you can also connect the iPad to your computer via cable (recommended) or your local wifi system and then find it as one of the options to share when you switch to Share Screen mode.
  4. Use the Video Conferencing and Events Support page for additional tips on the different tool choices, how to adjust video and audio settings
  5. When you are writing on the board and this is captured in Zoom, your remote students will see what you are doing without problems.  Your students in class will see what you see as a host if you choose to project the Zoom session through the projector – and that view is a mirrored view, which can be confusing when you are writing on the board.  To fix that, in the Zoom app, go into the Background and Filters tab and check the option Mirror my video.
  6. If you want to record in HD, which may be useful when capturing writing on the board or other detail-oriented content, select HD in your Zoom settings, under Video and Camera.
