There are many services that are available to students, staff and faculty at Carleton that require you to be connected to a campus network or GlobalProtect Virtual Private Network (VPN). Some of the services that require a VPN to access off-campus include self-service software from the K1000, access to network drives, certain library resources, campus printing, and the campus softphone system
Important: If you are a Carleton employee and are working remotely, you must be connected to the VPN to access college data. This policy is outlined in the Campus Handbook.
Getting Started:
- Follow the instructions in our Knowledge Base to install and connect to the GlobalProtect VPN.
More Info:
- GlobalProtect encrypts (protects) all traffic and then routes it through Carleton before sending it back to you. It works on both Carleton- and personally-owned Macs and PCs as well as most phones and tablets. When you are using it, your computer is essentially on the Carleton network, much as if you were in your office or dorm room. You can also use it to provide security when using non-secure networks, such as in coffee shops or libraries.
