All students, faculty, and staff are assigned a Carleton netId, which grants them access to a variety of computing resources and online services. 

During the initial setup process, they will select a password. The services they can access using their Carleton netId and password include email, online file storage (Google Drive, Dropbox), the online Carleton directory, Moodle, the Hub (which provides access the College’s information systems), and Zoom. Depending on their role at Carleton, they may also be given access to additional services and systems, including OnBase, Advance, and Colleague.

Alumni and friends of the college may also be assigned Carleton netIds to allow access to college resources, including the alumni directory, and any or all of the resources available to students, faculty, and staff.

Getting Started

  • Faculty and staff accounts are created automatically before their first day of work with a default set of rights determined by the department they work for.  More details can be found here: New Employee Account Setup.
  • Incoming student accounts are generally created in the spring preceding their arrival on campus.  Their username and password will be sent to them by the Admissions Office.
  • Participants in summer programs may be assigned a username and password, to be distributed by their program director, if their program requires one.
  • St. Olaf students, visiting scholars, and friends of the college may also be assigned usernames and passwords. Contact the ITS Helpdesk at (x5999) for help requesting an account if needed.
