Web Services recently added a new service called Siteimprove to help optimize content on Carleton’s websites. Siteimprove indexes Carleton websites to identify misspellings and broken links, detect discoverability and accessibility issues, and provide a powerful query engine for finding patterns across Carleton sites.
Email Reports
In May we’ll launch a new feature powered by Siteimprove data: monthly email reports for Reason site maintainers including data about misspellings and broken links. These monthly reports provide insight and actionable advice regarding potential problems on sites you maintain, with no learning curve or new logins to remember. Later integrations will directly connect into Reason to provide content authors with rapid feedback on new or changed pages.

Advanced Features With Siteimprove
Siteimprove offers much more functionality than reports on broken links and misspellings. The service offers search engine optimization (SEO) analysis and recommendations to help people find your website. Additionally, Siteimprove identifies accessibility issues which Web Services is addressing in an effort to ensure our many sites meet web accessibility standards.
Example issues Siteimprove can easily help you discover across your sites:
- Find links that read “click here” or other language that is hard for text-to-speech screen readers to communicate effectively
- Find pages using excessive capitalization
- Find pages with a former employee’s name, phone number, or email
