LinkedIn Learning

Online education has soared into everyone’s consciousness these past few months. As colleges and universities around the world started using video conferencing and screencasting tools to deliver lessons online, a few schools and companies have been doing it for years. Lynda.com recorded thousands of video tutorials over 20 years until LinkedIn, the business-focused social media giant, bought them and greatly increased their library of offerings. Today there are over 16,000 courses with more than 100,000 individual video lessons.

Everyone at Carleton has access to this entire LinkedIn Learning library of online courses. These are generally different from the courses students take at Carleton, focusing instead on business, creative, education, and tech skills. With LinkedIn Learning you can increase your capabilities with apps such as Word, Excel, Photoshop, or iMovie, or learn more about topics such as how to draw, making a good presentation, speaking to an audience, or becoming a better co-worker.

Watch and learn on your computer, phone or tablet. You can bookmark your favorites, create a collection of courses you want to watch, take notes, and connect with other learners if you wish. You’ll need to use your Carleton credentials when logging in. Here’s an easy-to-remember URL: go.carleton.edu/linkedinlearning

A certificate of completion is awarded for each course you finish–proof of your achievement–which you can share on your LinkedIn profile. (You can connect your LinkedIn Learning account to your regular LinkedIn account (if you have one), but you don’t need one to use the other.)

Now, wherever you have internet access, you can be learning something new — for work, for home, or just for fun. Not sure where to begin? Start with their course on how to use LinkedIn Learning!
