Final Steps with Google and Dropbox
Welcome Back 2017We are wrapping up the end of the Gmail migration and continuing to make progress on the Collab to Cloud project, but there are still a number of things in transition. We’re including a list of all services that are moving, locations, and the time frames for those moves. Many are underway now, more will be completed by the end of December, and some will continue throughout this academic year.

Next generation of Copier/Printers
Welcome Back 2017After six years of faithful service, we are replacing our Canon MFDs. The new models are faster and quieter than the old ones, and no longer require a separate card swipe for copying. The first replacements were done as part of the summer construction moves; we will continue through the fall and finish before Winter Term.

A New Direction for the Web
Welcome Back 2017Over the past several months Web Services has been evaluating new web platforms. We’re happy to announce that our proposal to go with WordPress has been approved by the Technology Planning and Priorities Committee (TPPC) and Tuesday Group. The implementation project will be named Web2020. A redesigned Admissions site will be our pilot site on WordPress with a targeted launch of Spring 2018.

Summer 2017This has been a busy year at Carleton and in ITS. We started the year with a new email system, the College celebrated its 150th anniversary, and the country elected a new President. And during the Spring, ITS has been working with departments on the rollout of Dropbox, the College has been humming with three significant construction projects, and the country experienced the first 100 days of its “tweet-inclined” President. In the midst of all that, you may have missed some of the enhancements ITS made this year.

Introducing new ITS Staff
Summer 2017ITS has two new staff in the Network and Systems group to introduce. They are filling the shoes of two staff who moved on to other positions. We are pleased to welcome Rob Alaimo and Bryan Theiling!

New Faculty/Staff Gateway Launched
April 2017In mid-March, Web Services, in conjunction with the Dean of the College office, launched a new Faculty/Staff Gateway page designed to provide quick and personalized access to the sites and tools used most frequently by this audience. The old Faculty/Staff landing page remained essentially unchanged since 2001, but over those 16 years the number of links displayed had grown to a daunting and unmanageable length.
