This has been a busy summer for ITS, as I’m sure it has been for all of us. We’ve been supporting construction efforts, upgrading labs and working on projects such as CUBE. We took time to reflect on 2016-17, compiling the key accomplishments into an Annual Report and changing some processes, such as how we test changes to classroom technology. We also brought in a WiFi consultant, adjusted our Helpdesk queue and are offering weekend hours to get the school year off to a good start. It’s been busy, but productive! We’re looking forward to seeing everyone back on campus. Welcome back!

Summer is the time we update and refresh various aspects of the public labs and instructor stations; we want to highlight the more significant changes for you before you start teaching. We’ve also updated Moodle and the associated FAQ site.

We are wrapping up the end of the Gmail migration and continuing to make progress on the Collab to Cloud project, but there are still a number of things in transition. We’re including a list of all services that are moving, locations, and the time frames for those moves. Many are underway now, more will be completed by the end of December, and some will continue throughout this academic year.

After six years of faithful service, we are replacing our Canon MFDs. The new models are faster and quieter than the old ones, and no longer require a separate card swipe for copying. The first replacements were done as part of the summer construction moves; we will continue through the fall and finish before Winter Term.

Over the past several months Web Services has been evaluating new web platforms. We’re happy to announce that our proposal to go with WordPress has been approved by the Technology Planning and Priorities Committee (TPPC) and Tuesday Group. The implementation project will be named Web2020. A redesigned Admissions site will be our pilot site on WordPress with a targeted launch of Spring 2018.
