We recently had the annual experience of “falling back” due to Daylight Savings Time. Although I have ambivalent feelings about this particular method of saving time, I am always delighted with the idea of getting an “extra hour.” The freedom! What would you do with an extra hour?

The Hub will be moving to new technology over the next few years. These changes will not happen all at once. The look-and-feel of The Hub, as well as its functionality, will transition slowly.

One challenge that all service organizations face is getting feedback. At Carleton, ITS and the Library use a national survey, Measuring Information Services Outcomes (MISO). We use the results of this survey to see how we’re doing and what’s most important to our community—and what most needs improvement.

We’ve spent much of the summer and fall term reworking how we support classrooms, focusing on three main areas: preventative maintenance, responsiveness, and communication. We’ll be surveying faculty to collect feedback on the changes.

After months of work laying the technological foundation for the transition, the eagerly-awaited migration of websites from Reason to WordPress has begun. During fall term the web team has focused our efforts on a handful of pilot websites, four of which are now up & running in the new system.

Every October, the Department of Homeland Security works with organizations around the country to raise cyber security awareness. At Carleton this took the form of weekly informational bulletins and student-produced videos.
