At approximately 6:40pm people began to report being denied access to Carleton systems such as Moodle, The Hub, Lab Computers, the GlobalProtect VPN, and WordPress. Errors include “404 Not Found,” “502 Bad Gateway,” and “incorrect username and password.”
Registration will be delayed by one day.
If you are already logged in to a service, you can use those services normally. The login process isn’t working at the moment.
ITS Staff are investigating and will resolve the issue as quickly as possible. We are currently unable to post updates to the ITS website, but we will email updates every hour or when we have positive news.
UPDATE 9pm:
The cause of the system outage has been identified and seems to be fixed. You will be able to log in to some applications fairly soon. It may take a few hours until everything is back up. ITS will send another email when we believe that everything is fully operational. Until then you will have a mix of some things working and other things not working.
Registration will resume tomorrow. Stay tuned for an email from the Registrar’s Office.
More detail:
The outage was caused by a significant hardware failure. We are working with our vendor to confirm that the systems will be stable moving forward. Some servers are more unhappy than others about being restarted abruptly and will need additional attention to come back fully.
Thank you for your patience. We apologize for the inconvenience.
UPPDATE 10:18pm
