We all process a lot of information using electronic digital means, but paper remains an important teaching, learning and business tool for the College, and it probably will for years to come. Since much of the paper on campus passes through a printer or copier, ITS is naturally involved in helping the College manage this vital resource.
Carleton uses MFDs (multi-function devices), which allow printing, copying and scanning all on one device. FAXing from these MFDs has been enabled now. ITS has helped facilitate all these services.
We are also involved in managing the network in which all of these devices operate. Some of the printers and MFDs have recently had settings changed, to enable requested services to be put in place. Some computers printing to these devices may need to have those printers reinstalled, though most will work just fine. The Academic Technologists and Rapid Response folks have been moving through different departments this Summer, reinstalling printers.
If you find that you cannot print to a certain printer, we may have missed your computer. Please call Rapid Response at x5999 and someone will come over and set up the printer with the new settings. We’re sorry if we missed your computer and apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.
