Mac OS X users can improve their connection to Eduroam wireless

29 September 2014

Apple has acknowledged problems with MacOS when authenticating to enterprise networks like Eduroam.

ITS has created a package to apply Apple’s suggested workarounds. To improve the reliability of your existing eduroam connection, please download, open, and run Carleton’s Eduroam SSL Fix.

For those interested, you can read about the details on what the Eduroam SSL Fix does.

If this is your first time connecting to Eduroam, use Carleton’s Eduroam Setup. This will ask for a password three times:

  1. In order to run, the setup script needs the password that you use to log on to your Mac (possibly different from your Carleton password).
  2. Another window will pop up asking for your password for enterprise wireless credentials. Here, enter your full Carleton email address (fschiller@carleton.edu) and password.
  3. A new window will pop up showing System Preferences. This will prompt for your Mac password again.
