RESOLVED: New login attempts get 502 Bad Gateway error

Beginning at about 9:30am, some users get a “502 Bad Gateway” error when attempting to log into Carleton systems.

ITS staff are working to diagnose and resolve the issue.

Update 11:50am: The Bad Gateway errors appear to have been the result of a DOS attack which has now subsided. ITS staff are monitoring the situation.

Update 6/24/2022: ITS staff made some changes to authentication servers that should cut off the pathway that the potentially malicious traffic is using.

Update 6/28/2022: The changes that ITS staff made on 6/24 appear to have mitigated the issue successfully. People should no longer be seeing 502 Bad Gateway errors when trying to sign into Carleton systems.
