This work is being scheduled by Zayo, the company that maintains the fiber cables which make up our physical connection to the Internet. This work is not being scheduled or performed by Carleton or St. Olaf.

Carleton’s Internet Service Provider (Zayo) is going to perform maintenance on the fiber cables that connect Northfield to the the Twin Cities and the Internet at large. During this maintenance event, all off-campus connectivity (except to St. Olaf) will be interrupted for up to 30 minutes. Also, all connections from off-campus to Carleton or St. Olaf will fail during this maintenance event.
Note: if this work cannot be performed on Thursday, June 2nd, it will be rescheduled for the next day. In that case, there will be a 30-minute disruption of Internet service on Friday, 03 June 2011, sometime between midnight and 5:00 am.
VPN connections onto or out from campus will be disrupted and may require a restart after Internet connectivity has been restored. (If you are unfamiliar with the term “VPN”, you can just ignore the previous sentence.)
