Searching for Student Digital Humanities Interns and Associates

29 March 2024
By Wiebke Kuhn

In collaboration with the Digital Humanities Center and the Gould Library, we are looking for students interested in Digital Scholarship, for both a DHA or Digital Scholarship Intern position. Both are paid academic year positions starting in the fall of 2024, and work will be hybrid (online and in-person).

What is Digital Humanities/Digital Scholarship?

Imagine developing digital resources that will make it easier for others to visualize, explore, sort through, and draw new connections, all because you helped develop a tool that takes sets of data and transforms them into a differently usable set of information.  Check out what Carleton’s Digital Humanities program has to offer.

Digital Scholarship Interns [DSI] (4 positions)

Each internship has a slightly different focus (accessibility, ethics, front-end web development, and back-end web development), but we’re approaching this as a cohort model.

Priority consideration will be given to complete applications submitted by April 22, 2024. Applications accepted on a rolling basis until filled.

Supervisors: Austin Mason, Wiebke Kuhn, Em Palencia, and Sarah Calhoun

Digital Humanities Associates [DHA] (4 positions)

The information below comes from the DHA position.

The Digital Humanities Associates (DHAs) support digital humanities projects and courses throughout the academic year. DHAs engage in a wide array of projects, collaborating closely with faculty who conduct arts and humanities research and who teach using digital methods and tools. DHAs are expected to work 6 hours per week.

In some cases, they function as research assistants for digital humanities projects, consulting on every stage of the process from initial design to data entry, development and final deployment. The DHAs also may serve as embedded teaching assistants in humanities courses, offering hands-on assistance for digital class projects, and holding evening tutoring sessions for students.

Priority consideration will be given to complete applications submitted by April 22, 2024. Applications accepted on a rolling basis until filled.
