This week is Data Privacy Week, an annual campaign to spread awareness about data privacy and educate individuals on how to secure their personal information. An important step when you share personal information is knowing how your information will be used. In that spirit, Carleton developed a privacy statement in 2019. This policy is designed to assist you in understanding how the College will collect, use, share and dispose of personal information you provide and information that is gathered during your interactions with the College.

The National Cybersecurity Alliance recommends the following:

  1. Turn on multi-factor authentication (MFA) wherever it is permitted, which keeps your data safe even if your password is compromised.
  2. Review the privacy and security settings of your apps.
  3. Consider whether current or future services, apps or games are worth the type of personal data they want in return.

For help with any of these recommendations or questions about data privacy, email privacy@carleton.edu.
