RESOLVED: network issues are mitigated

18 November 2022

Note for faculty: Moodle logs show that students were able to successfully upload documents and complete quizzes in Moodle until 10pm. From 7 to 10pm the network was slow, which certainly affected student interaction with Moodle and other services that need network access.

1:30am Network traffic and services (like Moodle) are available. Carleton is operating on our secondary network with full functionality. Work will continue over night to restore the primary network.

10:00pm Network issues remain. Initial round of investigation is complete with no resolution. Technician is bringing replacement parts to campus. Switch to secondary network is expected by 11pm. That should provide network stability to campus while the primary network restoration work continues.

7:40pm ITS has heard reports of network inconsistency on campus. The cause Is a “lost circuit” from the college’s Internet Service Provider (ISP).  We have no details on cause or resolution time and will be posting updates as we learn more.
