The Common Data Set (CDS) is a collaborative initiative that compiles essential institutional data through voluntary reporting. It provides a standardized set of facts about colleges and universities frequently utilized by college guidebooks and ranking publishers.
The exact content of the CDS changes slightly from year to year, as do the definitions of some items within the CDS. In recent years, each year’s definitions are provided at the end of a given year’s CDS file.
