The Carleton College Recreation Center has 85,000 sq. ft of activity space. Fitness center, four racquetball courts, aerobic/dance room, climbing wall, four multi-use courts (tennis, basketball, volleyball), and a six lane 200 meter indoor track.

West Gymnasium houses an 1,850 seat athletic arena that serves the Varsity, IM and Club teams, a six-lane, 25-yard pool with one- and three-meter diving boards and seating for 350, a spacious practice room and a class room.

Cowling Gymnasium provides a multipurpose teaching, practice and competitive gymnasium, an indoor tennis court, a dance studio, a sauna, another 25-yard pool and aerobic and strength exercise equipment.

Laird Stadium, which seats 7000 primarily for football games and outdoor track meets, houses a 220-yard banked oval Tartan track, handball and squash courts, a batting cage, a well-equipped weight room and aerobic exercise machine room. Circling the field in front of the stadium is an eight lane, 400-meter all-weather track and field facility.

Behind the West Gym are two outdoor basketball courts. A sand volleyball court is located in the Library Field. The Library Field, Pigeon Field, the Hill of Three Oaks and Duerr Field are the sites of intramural and club competitions. Bell Field, adjacent to Cowling Gymnasium, is the 11-acre site of Varsity, IM and Club activities.

The campus has twelve outdoor laykold tennis courts, six adjoining Bell Field and six in the lower arboretum. Sixteen miles of running and skiing trails and a .9 mile fitness trail crisscross the 450-acre Carleton Arboretum.
