Volunteering at Carleton College can be a fulfilling experience, offering students the opportunity to make a positive impact on the community while developing valuable skills and connections. While I’ve been at Carleton, one organization I have volunteered with is the Alzheimer’s Buddies program, a program that connects students at Carleton with residents at a local memory care facility allowing them to socialize and foster relationships. Although I have loved volunteering and being a club officer for the Carleton Alzheimer’s Buddies Chapter, I understand volunteering with the aging community can be difficult for many. If you are interested in finding other volunteer opportunities through Carleton, I recommend consulting the Center for Community and Civic Engagement, which organizes volunteer events in many different fields, with most of their projects focused on supporting the Northfield community.
