On October 20th, Midterm Break Monday, TRIO, ISL, and OIL brought students on a relaxing afternoon trip to the Como Zoo and Conservatory in St. Paul. The day began with a delicious buffet lunch from Mediterranean Cruise Cafe before heading over to the zoo.
Although it rained lightly, the cooler weather made the visit feel refreshing, and the zookeepers mentioned that many animals enjoy being out in this kind of temperature. Students were excited to see polar bears, tigers, giraffes, lions, primates, and many beautiful plants inside the conservatory.
Because the zoo is small and free to the public, the timing of the trip worked perfectly—we were able to explore everything at a comfortable pace. Many students also stopped by the gift shop to check out the cute animal merch and plushies before heading back to campus.
Overall, it was a cool, cozy midterm break and a great chance to recharge with friends, good food, and wildlife.
