The Global Cultures House (Atlas) was created as an intentional community for international students at Carleton who are interested in cultural sharing, building connections across different backgrounds, and advocating for the global community at Carleton. The Global Cultures House is an extension of the Office of International Student Life, therefore part of the mission is to create meaningful programming that fosters belonging, builds community, supports student success, and raises awareness of issues impacting international students. All Carleton community members are invited to participate in Global Cultures House programs.
Goals of the Global Cultures House:
- Provide a common space for ongoing discussion and support around issues specifically related to international student experiences
- Maintain an inclusive and respectful cultural home for residents and students.
- Create a shared living experience through which house residents learn from one another and build varying perspectives across different cultures.
- Develop educational opportunities and social programming that address a variety of issues relating to the international student experience
- Support the overall mission of the Office of International Student Life
The Global Cultures House is part of the Residential Life and Housing plan and will be located in one of the new buildings near the corner of 2nd St E and Union St S, adjacent to the townhouses and along the walking path that leads from Musser Hall to downtown Northfield. The house will have 20 beds– 6 doubles and 8 singles.
