Frank McNally and studentsPhysics and fitness became workout buddies last fall in first-year seminar The Physics of Phitness, taught by Frank McNally ’09, visiting assistant professor of physics and astronomy. The interdisciplinary course served as an introduction to both of its seemingly disparate subjects as students studied work and energy with free weights, springs with resistance bands, fluids in the pool, power generation with stationary bikes, and friction and pressure on the climbing wall.
