Steve Toure ’18It’s easy to volunteer at Carleton — just ask the dozens of current students who participate in the annual fund’s Give Day, contribute to the senior gift, or plan events for SNAP (Students ’N’ Alumni Programming) like Freshman Fall Day, the sophomore major declaration celebration, and the senior banquet.

Steve Toure ’18, a psychology major from Aldan, Pennsylvania, contributes by serving on Carleton’s Alumni Council, which includes alumni and student representatives and aims to advance volunteerism and promote a life cycle of stewardship among alumni. Toure is serving a three-year term that will span his last two years at Carleton and his first year as a graduate.

Student representation on Alumni Council has long been part of the Alumni Association’s bylaws, and Toure has been sharing his experiences, including his passion for dance and his work as a resident assistant (RA). He’s learned a lot, too.

“Alumni give so much — to the college, to their classmates, and to Carls in their own areas,” he says. “Carleton isn’t just the four years you’re on campus. We can use our shared experiences to work together and try to make Carleton a better place for future Carls.”
