To the Carleton Community,
The Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity Strategic Plan Steering Committee would like to announce that the Draft Strategic Plan was posted yesterday on the IDE plan website. This first full version of the plan is the product of five separate working groups generating Strategies to accomplish the Goals and Objectives that were shared in September. The working groups met intensively from mid-October to the last week of January, and we are deeply grateful for their time, effort, and commitment to the process. The Steering Group then spent the last week of January revising the recommendations for clarity and cohesion and eliminating overlaps among the recommendations from the different groups.
The draft you will see on the website, therefore, is a compilation of those working groups’ recommendations as revised and reconciled by the Steering Committee. The draft will be available for comment throughout the month of February utilizing the comment form on the webpage. In addition, there will be a series of town hall meetings (listed below) to provide input to the Steering Committee as it revises and prepares the final draft of the plan. Links to recordings of the town hall meetings will be placed on the website as well, as they become available.
As you will see from the document, this is a plan that touches the learning, living, and working experience of all members of the Carleton community and almost every aspect of the college’s functions and activities. We believe that the plan has the potential to improve the institutional experience of all community members and to advance the college’s aspirations to be an inclusive, diverse,and equitable institution in ways that are concrete and measurable.
We look forward to hearing your thoughts and suggestions in the coming month. Following this period of comment and feedback, we will produce a final version to share with the administration and Board of Trustees for approval.
