Carleton student Annanya Sinha ’25, traveled to Kolkata, India, to conduct IRB-approved ethnographic research and document the lives of several transwomen living in diverse socio- economic conditions. Annanya shot a short documentary and photos of them, their lives, and the religious, personal, and communal objects and environments they valued. The goal was to understand their lives from an insider-outsider feminist lens.
This funding was used to cover the costs of printing photos for an exhibition in the Hamlin Creative Space at Carleton from April 5–13, 2024.
