Student Research Partnerships provide an opportunity for students and faculty to work collaboratively for their mutual benefit.
Doing humanistic research with students can take many forms, including reading and editing scholarly work, formulating ideas, and establishing bibliographic materials. In some fields, research might also include interviewing, digital mapping, film editing, or archival work (either locally or through travel). The Humanities Center has funded SRPs for faculty conducting humanistic research in the humanities, the social sciences, mathematics, and the arts. Faculty in any field or discipline may apply, as long as the research addresses humanistic concerns. Faculty can request to hire as many students as they want (although we cannot promise to fund them all).
SRP’s pay for up to 40 hours per week of student work during winter and summer breaks. Occasionally funding is available to cover the costs of student travel to accompany faculty to research sites. Students working remotely must reside in the United States unless it is necessary for them to be outside the US to accomplish their work.
Faculty who wish to collaborate with students on research may identify qualified students who are available during the specified period before submitting an application for an SRP.
Faculty can receive a stipend for collaborating with a student via a summer SRP.
