Musics from Morocco's Jewish & Muslim Communities

Music is one of the cultural backbones of Moroccan society. Presenting a variety of repertoires from liturgical, personal and popular Moroccan repertoires, this concert with three authorities of Moroccan music will show the diversity and interconnectedness of Arabic, Judeo-Arabic and Judeo-Spanish repertoires from the last century. Dr. Vanessa Paloma Elbaz, voice, Abdallah Hachami, violin and oud, Mostafa Benhmad, percussion.

Sponsored by Carleton's Department of Middle Eastern Languages, Programs in Judaic Studies, Medieval and Renaissance Studies, and Middle East Studies, the Forkosh Family Endowment for Judaic Studies, and the Music Department, in partnership with Centre College with support from a grant from the Jewish Heritage Fund.
