Austin Mason, director of Digital Arts and Humanities and lecturer in History, presented a paper co-authored by Lily Haas ’24, Maddie Smith ’24, Jack Ochoa-Andersen ’24, Kritika Pandit ’26, and colleagues from Grinnell College titled, “Reinventing DH Student Research at Liberal Arts Colleges with Spatial Computing: The Virtual Viking Longship Project,” at the Alliance of Digital Humanities Organizations’ international DH2024 conference in Washington, D.C.
That talk was one of three last month that came out of the Virtual Viking Longship Project. This one was in person August 7 in DC. On August 14, Austin presented virtually another paper on “Virtual Reality Development as Digital Pedagogy” at the 10th Annual Digital Pedagogy Institute Conference, hosted online by the University of Waterloo, Canada. And on August 26th to 27th, Tim Arner presented a poster on “Gender and Work in the Virtual Viking Longship Project” at a conference on Women of the Viking World at the University of Liverpool, UK, .
