The Indigenous Chicago project, co-directed by Meredith McCoy, assistant professor of American Studies and History, has been recognized with a Best of Illinois History Award from the Illinois State Historical Society. Indigenous Chicago is a five-year public history partnership with the Newberry Library and Chicago American Indian Community Collaborative that includes an exhibit, high school curricular resources, digital maps and walking tours, oral histories, and public programming.
