Arboretum Archiving Assistant Opening!

15 September 2025

The Arboretum Archiving Assistant supports the work of the Arboretum by helping to develop the digital archive of Arboretum documents.  Working with the Arboretum Director, College archive and library staff, the Archiving Assistant searches for and processes relevant documents from the Arboretum files, the Carleton Archives, the Northfield Historical Society, the Rice County Historical Society, etc., and processes them for the digital collection.  Work includes visiting appropriate offices or institutions, scanning materials, writing abstracts, compiling metadata, and entering all in the database.  Additional tasks include editing transcripts of oral history interviews, contacting authors for permission to post the documents, and managing the permissions database.  A successful candidate will have good attention to detail, excellent writing skills, the ability to manage several projects simultaneously, and an interest in supporting the work of the Arboretum.  8-10 hours are available. Apply through the Arboretum website. Direct questions to the Arboretum Director, Nancy Braker, nbraker@carleton.edu.
