Concert: Singing with the Angels in Medieval Constantinople: Byzantine chant from Hagia Sophia and by the Nun Kassia

Cappella Romana, under the direction of Alexander Lingas, will perform a concert in the Kracum Auditorium that combines their recent explorations in historical soundscapes with selections from Lost Voices of Hagia Sophia as well as selections from their recent volume on the 9th century female hymnographer Kassiani.

Prior to the concert, Dr. Bissera Pentcheva (Art History, Stanford University) will offer a preconcert lecture entitled: The Sound of Many Waters: Visions of the Divine in the Byzantine Liturgy of Hagia Sophia (7-7:45pm)
