DUE Feb. 17 - Indigenous Engagement in Place Summer Fellowship
Are you interested in ethical collaborations with Indigenous partners? With launching or furthering a project that can advance both your academic goals and priorities established by a community mentor? If so, we invite you to consider applying for a summer fellowship with Carleton’s Indigenous Engagement initiative, which supports ethical and reciprocal research and teaching relationships between Carleton researchers and Indigenous peoples.
Through this 10-week program, you will conduct independent research under the guidance of an Indigenous community mentor. First year, sophomore, and junior students in good academic standing in any field may apply. Priority will be given to applicants who have prior experience with Indigenous community partnerships, community-engaged research, and/or Indigenous Studies coursework, as well as to projects that are regionally specific.
The first round of the application consists of a letter of interest submitted through this Google form (please do not contact possible community partners yet). Applications for Summer 2025 will be due no later than February 17, 2025. Awards will be announced by the end of winter term.
Compensation is at the current rate of $13.91 per hour plus FICA. In recognition of the work Indigenous research mentors will provide to student researchers, the student's Indigenous community partner SRF mentor will also receive a one-time stipend of $5000.
All grant recipients will need to submit a brief report for internal use following the conclusion of their work.
For more information prior to submitting an application, please contact Meredith McCoy at mlmccoy@carleton.edu.
