January 28-February 1, 2025
SEXploration is a week long collaboration in the Division of Student Life between the Career Center, the Gender & Sexuality Center, the Office of Health Promotion and Student Health and Counseling. This week of events are about sexual health, sexual wellbeing, sexuality and other related topics with a focus on promoting healthy sexual relationships.
Tuesday January 28th
SMP Culture of Respect Workshop – 12pm – Sayles 252
Join Sexual Misconduct Prevention peer educators on Tuesday at common time for the Culture of Respect workshop! This workshop focuses on increasing your understanding of preventing gender discrimination and helping to identify realistic proactive behaviors for promoting an atmosphere in line with identified values. Think through being a part of a healthy culture here at Carleton! Pizza will be served at this event.
Wednesday January 29th
SHAC and SWAs STI Testing Info Table – 11am-1pm – Sayles
Come say hi to SHAC and SWAs in Sayles to get information about Express STI
testing at SHAC. Learn what to expect out of an express STI testing appointment
and ask any questions you have about express testing, comprehensive testing, or
pap testing at your on-campus clinic! You can schedule an appointment via your
MySHAC portal after learning more!
OHP Sexual Health Trivia – 6pm – AGH Meeting Room
Come test your sexual health knowledge in this Kahoot competition! Come on your own or with friends. The top three winners will receive prizes and there will be snacks!
Thursday January 30th
SMP Sexual Pleasure Workshop – 12pm – Sayles 251
Join the Sexual Misconduct Prevention peer educators on Thursday as they host a Sexual Pleasure workshop. This will include discussing physiological factors of pleasure, self-exploration, sexual activity with others, and pleasure tools. Pizza will be served!
Friday January 31st
Breakfast and Birth Control – 9am-11am – Sayles Cafe
Want to know your birth control options? Drop by any time between 9 and 11 to meet Maddie and Angel, two of our fabulous SHAC nurse practitioners, and feast your eyes on a Birth Control Petting Zoo! 🐰🐱🐶 Get hands-on (literally!) with different birth control methods and ask all your burning questions. Plus, enjoy a delicious breakfast!
GSC Zine Workshop – 3pm – Sayles 251
No rules, no editing, no gods, no masters! Join comic artist and zine-maker Archie Bongiovanni for a workshop about one of the most important and underground ways to share information and stories. A love letter to physical media, zines can be many things, from educational to deeply personal and frequently focus on communities mainstream publishing leaves behind. In this hands-on zine workshop, we’ll bring your quirky, bold ideas to life–no artistic skills needed! By the end, you’ll leave with your zine in hand and hopefully a DIY ethos that’ll continue outside of the classroom.
Archie Bongiovanni is a comic artist and zine maker whose work explores themes such as queer identity, relationships and sexuality, blending humor and honesty. They’re the author of A Quick And Easy Guide To They/Them Pronouns and their newest graphic novel Mimosa was published last year. With over a decade of experience creating zines, Archie combines illustrations with conversational writing. Their work is both accessible and relatable, offering everything from introspective reflections to playful and satirical explorations of modern queer life.
Saturday February 1st
Smitten Kitten Workshop – 2:00PM-3:30PM – Weitz 235
“Unlocking Liberation: Empowering Queer and Trans Voices
through Comprehensive, Pleasure Based Sex Education”
Join Sex Educators from Smitten Kitten (sex toy store located in Minneapolis, Minnesota) for this workshop! Facilitators will discuss pleasure-based sex education and other acts of resistance for queer and trans Liberation. They will touch on the topics of polyamory and kink and will bring examples of products and tools that they have in store.
