Do you miss your dog from home? Ever feel like a little dog love would just make all the stress melt away?

Several peer-reviewed studies have been published showing positive student responses to therapy dogs on college campuses, including decreases in heart rate and blood pressure (Somervill et al. 2008), perceived stress (Barker et al. 2016) and a demonstrated belief that interacting with a therapy dog would be helpful in transitioning to college (Adamle et al. 2009).

The Office of Health Promotion piloted Carleton’s SWA dog program during spring term 2017, finding that participants in the program found a decrease in perceived levels of stress.
