Queer Mental Health Collective: Queer Art

Thu, January 22, 2026 • 12:00pm - 1:00pm (1h) • Sayles 251
Rocky Casillas Aguirre is a Latino and Queer artist based in Nerstrand. He is the Founder of Rokaturas, an arts studio dedicated to creating accessible mental health resources for youth. Rocky will be leading a 45-min workshop titled "Drawn From Within: Turning Emotions into Characters." The drawing session combines mindfulness practice with the art of comics, guiding participants in the development of a short story where the main protagonists (or antagonists) are your own feelings!

Bahn mi and spring rolls from Tin Tea Provided for lunch. No registration required.

The Queer Mental Health Collective at Carleton College is a safe space for LGBTQIA+ students to form community through conversation and actively supporting one another’s mental health and wellbeing. We believe shared spaces can be healing for those living with the effects of queer/transphobia and other social injustices at individual, community and systemic levels.

The Queer Mental Health Collective is led by staff from Student Health and Counseling, the Office of Health Promotion, and the Gender & Sexuality Center.
