Periclean Faculty Leadership Program in the Humanities
12 December 2019Project Pericles is pleased seek new participants in the Periclean Faculty Leadership (PFL) Program™ in the Humanities. PFLs will receive $4,000 to design new or significantly revised courses across the humanities that incorporate community-based projects addressing six grand challenges: Climate Change, Education Access, Immigration, Mass Incarceration, Race and Inequality, and Voter Engagement. Proposals are due by March 2, 2020.

11 December 2019The National Science Foundation’s Faculty Early Career Development Program (CAREER) is a Foundation-wide activity that offers the National Science Foundation’s most prestigious awards in support of early-career faculty who have the potential to serve as academic role models in research and education and to lead advances in the mission of their department or organization. Activities pursued by early-career faculty should build a firm foundation for a lifetime of leadership in integrating education and research. NSF encourages submission of CAREER proposals from early-career faculty at all CAREER-eligible organizations.

HistoryMakers – Academic Research, Digital Humanities, Creative Study Research & Project Support
9 December 2019The HistoryMakers is inviting applications for one of three sets of fellowships – Academic Research, Digital Humanities, and Creative Study – created from funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, for the period of Summer 2020 (April–September 2020). Applicant’s work must use content from The HistoryMakers Digital Archive. Submission is open to both faculty and students. Applications must be submitted by Monday, March 2, 2020.

NSF Research Opportunity Awards (ROAs)
13 November 2019NSF Research Opportunity Awards (ROAs) are typically used to enable faculty members at PUIs to pursue research as visiting scientists with NSF-supported investigators at other institutions. An ROA is intended to increase or maintain the visitor’s research capability and effectiveness, to improve research and research teaching capabilities at his or her home institution, and to enhance the impacts and outcomes of the NSF-funded research of the host principal investigator. Most frequently, ROA activities are summer experiences but partial support of sabbaticals may sometimes be provided.

NEH Summer Seminars and Institutes for Higher Education Faculty
13 November 2019NEH offers tuition-free opportunities for K-12 educators and higher education faculty to spend 1-4 weeks of the summer studying a variety of humanities topics. Stipends of $1,200-$3,300 help cover expenses for these programs, located around the country.

4 October 2019The Associated Colleges of the Midwest is soliciting pre-proposals for grants from the Faculty Career Enhancement (FaCE) program for inter-departmental and inter-institutional projects on the liberal arts curriculum. Pre-proposals must be submitted online by Friday, October 25.

Bush Foundation Fellowship for leadership development
27 September 2019The Bush Foundation Fellowship is a flexible grant of up to $100,000 intended to help talented leaders advance their maturing careers over 12 to 24 months starting on August 1, 2020. The Fellowship gives awardees the resources and time needed to reflect, build leadership skills, and learn new ways to make a positive impact. Applications are due on Thursday, October 24.

Engeseth-Rinde Restoration Fund Grants for local habitat restoration and education projects
18 September 2019Applications for grants to support habitat restoration, scientific research and educational projects in the Nerstrand-Dennison, Minnesota, area are now being sought by the Engeseth-Rinde Fund Advisory Committee and Northfield Shares. Applications can be made by government agencies, non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and other similar organizations.

National Humanities Center residential fellowships
1 August 2019The National Humanities Center in the vibrant Research Triangle region of North Carolina invites applications for academic-year or one-semester residential fellowships over the 2020-2021 academic year. The Center welcomes applications from mid-career, senior, and emerging scholars with a strong record of peer-reviewed work from all areas of the humanities, including scholars from outside the humanities who are doing humanistic projects. Stipends and travel expenses are provided. Fellows enjoy private studies, in-house dining, and superb library services that deliver all research materials.

The National Endowment for the Humanities “Humanities Connections” grant program seeks to expand the role of the humanities in undergraduate education at two- and four-year institutions. Awards will support innovative curricular approaches that foster productive partnerships among humanities faculty and their counterparts in the social and natural sciences and in pre-service or professional programs (such as business, engineering, health sciences, law, computer science, and other technology-driven fields), in order to encourage and develop new integrative learning opportunities for students. Humanities Connections grants are funded at two levels: Planning ($35,000, 12 months) and Implementation ($100,000, 18-36 months). The application deadline is Thursday, September 19, 2019. Projects must start between June 1 and September 30, 2020.
