NEH Summer Seminars and Institutes for 2021

The National Endowment for the Humanities is now accepting applications to the Summer Seminars and Institutes programs, most of which will be offered online during summer 2021:

  • The Search for Humanity After Atrocity (Union, New Jersey)
  • Law and Culture in Medieval England (Kalamazoo, Michigan)
  • The Visual Culture of the American Civil War and its Aftermath (New York, New York)
  • The New Deal Era’s Federal Writers’ Project: History, Politics, and Legacy (Brooklyn, New York)
  • Hurston on the Horizon: Past, Present, and Future (Lawrence, Kansas)
  • Radio and Decolonization: Bringing Sound into 20th Century History (Denver, Colorado)

Ranging in duration from one to four weeks, NEH Seminars and Institutes are designed primarily for full-time or part-time faculty who teach undergraduate students. Those employed by museums, libraries, historical societies, and other organizations are also eligible. All applicants must demonstrate that their participation will advance the teaching and scholarly goals of the program. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, residents of U.S. jurisdictions, or foreign nationals who have resided in the U.S. or its territories for at least three years immediately preceding the application deadline.

Applications are due to the individual programs by March 1, 2021. Successful applicants will receive free tuition and a stipend to attend the program.
