George A. and Eliza Gardner Howard Foundation Fellowships in Fiction, Poetry, and Playwriting and Theatre Studies

23 April 2019

The George A. and Eliza Gardner Howard Foundation awards a limited number of fellowships each year for independent projects in selected fields, targeting its support specifically to early mid-career individuals who have achieved recognition for at least one major project.

Howard Fellowships are intended primarily to provide artists, scholars, and writers with time to complete their work. In spring 2020, the foundation will award a total of eight $35,000 fellowships in the fields of Fiction, Poetry, and Playwriting and Theatre Studies; the foundation and applicant can jointly determine the actual period over the next five years in which the fellowship can be used.

Proposals are due by November 1, 2019, and entail a project description (three pages, double-spaced), two letters of recommendation, a bibliography, and a writing sample of no more than 20 pages.

Christopher Tassava in Corporate & Foundation Relations will be happy to assist Carleton faculty in applying.
