Sunrose Shrestha, assistant professor of mathematics, has been awarded an American Mathematical Society-Simons Research Enhancement Grant for Primarily Undergraduate Institution Faculty (AMS-Simons PUI). With generous funding from the Simons Foundation, the AMS, and Eve, Kirsten, Lenore, and Ada of the Menger family, the AMS-Simons PUI grant is a three-year award to support research-related activities. The grant will support Prof. Shrestha’s project, “Dynamics of straight-line trajectories on infinite triply periodic polyhedral surfaces,” which lies at the intersection of geometry and dynamics. Throughout the project, Prof. Shrestha will study general dynamical questions of key interest for dynamicists and geometers in the context of triply periodic polyhedral surfaces such as the Mucube, Mutetrahedron and others.
