A grant from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency will help the College improve its collection of compostable materials in its residence halls.
According to project director Rob Nechanicky, Custodial Services Supervisor, state funds will allow Carleton to improve the quality of education for students and the campus community about composting versus recycling and landfilling. Nechanicky and student workers funded by the grant will also conduct frequent and systematic audits of the waste streams in the residence halls to assess levels of cross-contamination and how they change throughout the project.
