Carleton’s Muslim Student Association (MSA) has received an interfaith leadership grant from the Interfaith Institute at Augsburg University to paint interfaith murals in the basement of Skinner Chapel. One large mural or multiple smaller murals will communicate mutual connections and values among students who use the prayer rooms in the area. In addition to the murals, the grant will fund two interfaith dinners to foster connections among student faith groups on campus. Associate Chaplain Fatima Basharat supports the students in their project for the duration of the grant; former Associate Chaplain Ailya Vajid supported them in applying for the grant. Prof. Kambiz GhaneaBassiri serves as faculty advisor for the project.
Funding for Emerging Muslim Bridge Building Leaders Engaging in the Midwest (EMBLEM) was provided to the Interfaith Institute by the Arthur Vining Davis Foundations.
