Matt Whited, Associate Professor of Chemistry, has been awarded a grant from the National Science Foundation (#2244969) to support his project titled, “Promoting Group-Transfer Reactions at Metal/Main-Group Bonds.” The project explores new approaches to chemical reactivity, with a focus on exploiting earth-abundant elements to perform reactions that are important in both bulk and fine chemicals applications, and is thus supported through NSF’s Critical Aspects of Sustainability – Innovative Solutions to Sustainable Chemistry initiative. In addition to supporting Prof. Whited and materials and supplies for his lab, this funding will provide support for up to 18 summer research partners over three summers, including some working on a collaborative project between Prof. Whited and Prof. Daniela Kohen.
