The William Carleton Medal represents a signal honor conferred by Carleton’s Board of Trustees in recognition of extraordinary support of the school. The medal recognizes persons who have greatly strengthened Carleton through their own generosity or that of others whom they have encouraged. The president of the college, in consultation with the chair of the Board of Trustees, nominates candidates for consideration by the Board of Trustees.
The William Carleton Medal was designed by Carleton art professor Timothy L. Lloyd and is presented to each recipient in a small private ceremony.
