Give Mutual Fund Shares
If you would like to make a gift using mutual fund shares, the best way to proceed is for you or your broker to contact Pam Sexton, lead gift accountant, at 507-222-5611 or giftaccounting@carleton.edu. Carleton will need the following information from you:
- The mutual fund name and symbol
- The name and phone number for the company holding the mutual fund shares
- The number of shares or dollar amount you would like to donate
Using this information, Carleton will determine which steps are necessary to complete the transfer. Depending on the type of mutual fund and how it is held, the transfer may take anywhere from a few days to several weeks to complete. Give by IRA Charitable Rollover
If you are age 70½ or older and are the owner of an IRA, you can make tax-free IRA contributions directly to Carleton. For more information, please see our gift planning website. Make sure that you contact us when you direct the rollover so we can look for the check from your IRA administrator.
