Candace (Dacie) Moses was born in 1883, and later, as a long-time employee of Carleton, she was known for inviting students to her house for cookies, Sunday brunch, and conversation. When she passed away in 1981, she left her house to the College.
Renovations started in summer of 2023. Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students Carolyn Livingston says she thanks the Dacie Moses staff and residents for all they did to keep Dacie Moses alive, even during construction. Dean Livingston called Dacie’s a home away from home, a place to just be — “however that may be.”
“It’s more than a cookie house,” Dean Livingston said. “It’s a community.”
