Avi Fine '11

Hometown: Bellevue, WA

Major: Psychology

Recipient of the Ward B. And Susan E. Lewis Scholarship

“This past summer I volunteered in a psychology lab at the University of Washington. The lab was interested in developmental psychology and investigated infant and preschool-age cognition. I aided in running the experiments, compiling data, and organizing information about participants. I was even able to run and experiment on my own.

“While this research did not take place through Carleton, I would not have been able to do it without being prepared by Carleton.

“Carleton has taught me to be more open to different ways of thinking. At the same time, it has taught me to view the world with a critical eye. It has also given me the opportunity to meet people from vastly different backgrounds than my own, something that is vital in today’s multicultural world.”
